The work I do will enable you to bridge the gap between what is going on in your life now and where you want to be. We will look at gaps in your life and what your ideal life looks like. I will ask questions that prompt you to search within yourself for answers and resources that have been until now untapped. You will be challenged and encouraged to think outside your comfort zone to understand your strengths and weaknesses. Therapy will help you to identify your goals, overcome obstacles, plan your actions and assist you in each step towards a better quality of life.
When working with adolescents I aim to help them trust that they are loveable, good and worthy of care and protection, to help them to blossom emotionally and socially.
The treatments I use combine neural, emotional and cognitive interventions.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) involves exploring the relationship between thought processes, emotions, behaviour, physical feelings and the environment. CBT seeks to relieve distress by changing one or more of these factors.
Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR), involves reprocessing negative material that is locked into the brain and adapting it with positive processing. This results in an improved state of self and increase in self-confidence.
The Human Givens Approach works with people to relieve emotional distress, to enable them to feel mentally strong, able to set goals, alter expectations and realise desired outcomes.
Treatment sessions are carried out in a compassionate manner, in a calm, private and quite environment.
